You’ll get strange looks when you ask for your civvy work mates for a brew NATO standard, or wet and warm. Then you’ll find yourself trying to explain to them that 20 cups of tea a day is normal where you come from. When you do eventually get your weak gnats p***, you shouldn’t have bothered brew, you soon realise, it’s not the same without mud, half a forestry block and a dead mozzie floating in it.
The term NATO standard, which refers to tea/coffee with milk and two sugars, is thought to date back to the 1950’s, when NATO members began trying to standardize parts for both European and American forces. But nothing will ever taste like the tea from a norgie (Norwegian container) whilst sat on the ranges all f****** day. RANGE STANDARD tastes different to any other tea, purely down to the condition of the CQMS's sock in which it is brewed.
Other abbreviations; Julie Andrews: Milk no sugar (White Nun) Whoopi Goldberg: No milk no sugar (Black Nun)
